Author’s Notes: I realize that at this time they still had to press buttons into the computer to get it to take verbal commands. I took some liberties with that technology, but since it’s such a small part of the story, I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal. Also, I know the Enterprise in TNG had a phaser range, and I would assume that this Enterprise would as well. After all, they had to practice somewhere.
